Practical Production Processes

This presentation helps the attendee determine if a vehicle is ready to be put into the repair process. It covers thoroughly reviewing the damage assessment to see what steps are required in the repair as well as parts and sublets. Through the repair review the attendee will understand how to sequence repair steps to ensure positive workflow of the repair and use the damage assessment to validate all steps in the repair to ensure all items required for the repair are on hand, a technician meeting the repair skill is available and sublets can be performed as needed.

    John Shoemaker is a Business Development Manager for BASF Automotive Refinish Coatings - North America and began his career in the automotive repair industry as a helper in a small body shop in Campbell, California. Entering the military, he has been an automotive and body repair technician, vehicle maintenance manager, accident investigator, technical instructor and management system analyst while serving in the U.S. Air Force.

    Since returning to the civilian sector he has managed several dealership collision centers, was a dealership service director, a consultant to management system users as an implementation specialist and as the owner of JSE Consulting LLC has provided best practice training in Estimatics, Damage Analysis, Marketing, Lean Implementation, & Collision Center Management.

    John has assisted CCC Information Services in development and implementation of the Production Assistant system, and evaluated CCCOne during the development stages. John’s creation of a Direct Estimating marketing booklet led the program manager of the Performance Claim Passport program to solicit his advice during the development phase.

    John has held I-CAR certifications in: Damage Analysis, Frontal Impact Analysis, Fundamentals of Collision Repair, Steel Full-Frame Technologies and Repair, Steel Unitized Structures Technologies and Repair which was recognized through JSE Consulting LLC’s Gold Class recognition. As an ASE certified damage appraiser, John achieved the Accredited Automotive Manager certification through the Automotive Management Institute.
