Markus Kamps has made a name for himself in the bedding and sleep product industry over the past 10 years. Sleep matters basically are in his DNA: In his family there was a developer and retailer of bed products, and Kamps himself was active in bed retailing. Today, he combines his training and sales experience with his practical knowledge gained from development and through contact with professionals in the field of medicine. Kamps trained as a (sleep) coach and as the first preventologist for sleep and stress consulting, in 2000 he started advising and training on a freelance basis retailers of bed and furniture. In addition, he advises consumers both in person and online on lying and sleeping (quote from Süddeutsche Zeitung: “Sleep is my life,” says Markus Kamps with conviction). Kamps has conducted test purchases, documentaries and interviews on sleeping and beds for diverse print media including Süddeutsche Zeitung, Bild, Fit for Fun, Neon and Financial Times as well as for Zeit online and TV stations such as ZDF, NDR, Pro 7, RTL, and WDR. Also, he operates the YouTube channel Schlafberatung, where he offers advice. Everyone should sleep better is his motto. Kamps has contributed significantly to the development of the qualification offensive Kompetenz-Zentrum gesunder Schlaf, which involves sleep schools. In cooperation with experts he also participates actively in the campaign for healthy sleep on the pertinent web portal. As an ambassador for sleep for back-related issues at health-related events, Kamps highlights connections between key health matters and stress and sleep competences, and he frequently volunteers to give speeches, for example, to self-help groups and at kindergartens. Kamps has completed four international tours and has become a renowned guest lecturer and speaker in and beyond Germany. Also, he is a private lecturer at Textilfachhochschule Nagold and is committed to addressing sleep-related issues as part of corporate health management.
