The Green Button: The new government label for sustainable textiles
Polls occupy: Three quarters of consumers attach importance to sustainably produced textiles. Almost as many would be willing to spend more money on fashion and other textiles if workers in supply chains received fair wages. This development is particularly relevant for the companies represented at Heimtextil: Nobody wants to sleep in bed linen that has been sewn in 16-hour shifts for a starvation wage or dyed with toxic chemicals.
The state textile seal Grüner Knopf - on the market since September 2019 - makes sustainably produced textiles visible in stores. It is attached directly to the product and is therefore easy to find, particularly reliable as a government seal and very consumer-friendly with transparent criteria.
The lecture will present the framework conditions for certification and the associated advantages for certified companies.
