AM for Industry - from Manual Work to Industrial Production
So far the manufacturing chain for an AM part built up in layers in a powder bed is characterized by a significant number of manual processes. The newest generation of 3D printing systems already offer interfaces to implement automated processes. In addition to that there are increased development activities for automating subsidiary and post processes. Based on a simulation-driven case study Siemens, Grenzebach, Ossberger and AZO will demonstrate the impact of automated processes on product cost reduction. Whereas Siemens will focus on the overall factory concept and simulation scenarios, Grenzebach will show the value-add of automated intra logistics as part of this factory concept. Ossberger is specialized on automated unpacking of print frames and depowdering of workpieces and AZO will show how a closed powder cycle could look like. Depending on the degree of automation and production quantities different cost-saving targets can be reached.
