AM's Role in Supply Chain Resilience and Shifting Geographies of Production

This presentation will review ongoing debates around the current and potential role of additive manufacturing to increase supply chain resilience and the ways in which AM can reshape how and where goods are manufactured.It will discuss the motivations of reshoring of manufacturing and the potential for, and challenges of, relocalizing production, including distributed manufacturing.The presentation uses quantitative and qualitative data collected on the AM sector to interrogate contemporary rhetoric around the transformative potential of AM technologies.
