Johannes Wieczorek is Deputy Director-General of the policy department in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. He heads the directorate "Climate Change Mitigation in Transport, Environmental Protection and Noise Mitigation". Until April 2019, he headed the directorate "Policy Issues and Strategies for Passenger and Freight Transport". Prior to that, he was employed in various positions in the ministry, such as Head of the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport Task Force, Head of Division for Freight Transport and Logistics and European Cooperation Officer.
He served the Federal Ministers Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer and Eduard Oswald at the then Federal Ministry of Construction as a personal consultant.
From March 2011 to April 2015, he headed the office of Peter Altmaier, MP and Michael Grosse-Brömer, MP, in the CDU/CSU Bundestag parliamentary group, and from 2009 the Transport, Building and Urban Affairs working group of the parliamentary group.
From 2002 to 2006 he was employed by the Federal Foreign Office as Head of the Transport Division at the German Embassy in Washington D.C..
Johannes Wieczorek holds a degree in geography from the University of Bonn.
