graduate physicist, works in the department of “Automotive Engineering” at the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) since 2014. In the section of “Connected Mobility”, he is working on topics like the communication between road infrastructure systems and vehicles, traffic information services and map data, in a national as well as in an international context. With the accelerating digital transformation of the overall traffic system, IT security emerges as a crucial aspect in order to provide a safe, reliable and resilient road infrastructure in the future. Sandro Berndt-Tolzmann is chairing the IT security group in the deployment initative “Cooperative ITS Corridor”, which is preparing the rollout of cooperative services in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, and also the security task force of “C-Roads” in the European CEF programme. Moreover he is also active in the strategy implementation group of the German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
