Textile innovations for a “smarter” sleep
Lecture in german
No materials touch us the way textiles do. Clothes and home textiles play a key role in our life both during the day and at night. Whether we wear them, for example, as nightwear, come into direct contact with them, for example, bed linens, or use them in the form of interior furnishings, textiles impact our sleep directly. In numerous research projects, the Institut für Textiltechnik at RWTH Aachen has developed diverse solutions for sleep applications. Because they extend the functions of textiles, smart textiles have great potential to add value to sleep products. Sensors, thermoregulation, acoustics and other parameters help increase comfort or support medical applications. Using the example of a new interactive pillow, the speaker will discuss the production technology required to create new marketable smart textiles.
